There were four original Playskool My Pretty Mermaids and they each came with a solid colored bow for their hair and a comb decorated with 3 fishies.

"If you find the end of a beautiful rainbow, you'll find a magical place...the enchanted home beneath the sea where My Pretty Memaids live. One day, a rainbow came to this magical place and carried the mermaids into the sky to catch sparkling sunbeams. when the mermaids returned to their wonderful home, their fins were decorated with pretty designs of their mermaid names...a special gift from the rainbow."

The Rainbow My Pretty Mermaids were special because they came with an extra long rainbow stripe in their hair and their tails were decorated with three rainbow stripes. They also came with a head dress or bowtie, a fluffy vest, and a comb decorated with a starfish and a rainbow.

The Princess My Pretty Mermaids came with glittery tails, longer hair, and a dress and head dress. They came with the sea horse combs.

Moon Glow Mermaids have sparkley fins that Glow in the Dark. Their symbols are revealed when their fins glow. They also have stars in their eyes instead of gleams and came with extra long hair.

Sunsparkle My Pretty Mermaids are vibrantly colored. They are often called Neon Mermaids, but Sunsparkle is their ture name. They came with hair ribbons decorated with stars and zig zags, or circles and polka dots. They also came with combs featuring a sun wearing sun glasses.

These Mermaids have gemstones set in the middle of their bra tops where other mermaid have little clam shells. They have tinsel in their hair, sparkley fins, and diamond gleams in thier eyes. They came with bows for their hair, skirts, and glittery combs.

The Seaside Wedding set came with Lovestruck, a bride mermaid and Ocean Kiss, a groom merman! As far as I know he was the only male My Pretty Mermaid made. His body was made from a totally different mold from head to tail fin. He is a little taller than the girls, more muscular, has a bigger fin, and it seems that his only purpose in life is to be a groom because he has parts of the groom outfit molded onto his tail. Ocean Kiss has 1992 Playskool written on the inside of his fin and nothing written on his back. This set came with a purple clam shell that contained a baby girl or boy mermaid, and a pink sea horse comb.

Two My Pretty Mermaids playsets were made. The Sea Dream Waterbed and the Sea Bubbles Bathtub.

The Sea Dream Waterbed playset came with:
-purple base with yellow treasure chest
- a "water bed mattress" which was a little plastic piece that you could fill with water and inside it had little sparkles
and flat plastic starfishes and fish that moved around inside the water part of the bed - a hot pink felt pillow
-a hot pink felt blanket with a blue heart in the bottom right corner (I think it was a heart)
- a flat, felt, merbear it was blue with hot pink and white paint and it had a tail fin similar to the mpm because it had a pink star on its tail fin
- and a comb

The Sea Bubbles Bathtub playset came with:
- huge purple almost seashell shaped tub with a aqua towel rack and a fake mirror attached to it
- a pink (terry cloth) towel with a purple starfish on the bottom right corner
- a little fish that if you filled it with water you could squirt it out its mouth, and it also changed colors in hot and cold water, it went from pink to purple (or might be the other way around)
- a chunky yellow barette with a strand of fake purple hair coming out of it
- a seahorse shaped comb

An African American mermaid is featured on the Fashion Treasure accessory backcards. This may be Sunblossom as well but her fin looks more purple and not dark pink.
